A not so public meeting about a wide path that jumped off the rails onto the narrow streets of Old Greenwich
It began with CT Governor Lamont's good idea of providing multi-use recreational trails along Connecticut's rail paths and canal routes. The State committed $9 million for 50 trail programs including a grant to design a Greenwich-Stamford Multi-Use Trail. Instead of running along rail paths, the 10-foot wide multi-use trail under study here has gone off the rails. It runs through narrow streets in Old Greenwich in hopes of connecting Old Greenwich's Binney Park to Stamford

Election Day is Tuesday: How it's done in Greenwich
The final day of voting in the municipal elections is Tuesday November 4. Campaigning goes on more than ever now because there is a new two-week period of early voting at Town Hall leading up to game day voting at your polling location tomorrow. The town is littered with so many signs that First Selectman Camillo has instructed the Republican campaign to limit them so as not to obstruct the beauty of Greenwich's public spaces. Not sure this is a good idea because at every

The force behind Greenwich's recent real estate boom: Zohran Mamdani
Amidst a flurry of fierce bidding wars and skyrocketing prices in Greenwich, local real estate brokers are pointing to a heightened level of interest from New York City residents. This phenomenon is fueled by the prospect of a Democrat Socialist Zohran Mamdani winning the mayoral race in New York. In Greenwich, this has resulted in bidding wars more intense than what was even seen during the pandemic. Said Mark Pruner, a broker in the Greenwich office of Compass: "We were h

Greenwich School Board's disregard for law poses a real threat to our local democracy
Local democracy is under direct threat, not by some abstract national crisis, but by the very officials elected to uphold its principles. Last week, a state court delivered a damning judgment against the Democrat members of the Board of Education (BOE) - Karen Hirsh, Laura Kostin, Sophie Koven, Kathleen Stowe. The ruling concerned an illegal emergency meeting they held in October 2024, in an attempt to bypass protocol and appoint their preferred candidate to a vacant Republic

Greenwich Time puts its hand on the scale
Thank goodness there are alternatives to our local media. It's election season and the Greenwich Time has conveniently found a way to put its hand on the scales a week before the November 4 elections. The primary tool? As usual, the scare tactics about school budget cuts - the best the Democrats seem to have to offer. The Greenwich Time story on Monday ran with a headline that appears to be straight Democrat talking points: "Greenwich budget guidelines would likely mean cu

Greenwich Selectman prevails against Democrat Board of Ed power grab - but illegal meetings continue
The Greenwich Patriots, a parent-led Board of Ed (BOE) watchdog group, delivered a scathing message at Thursday's Oct 23 BOE meeting, echoing what many residents were thinking. The Freedom of Information Court definitively ruled in favor of First Selectman Camillo on Wednesday October 22 declaring that the October 2024 actions taken by BOE Democrats (Hirsch, Kostin, Koven, Stowe) to call a meeting to install their preferred candidate (Jen Behette) into an open Republican seat

Why so many smoke shops in Byram?
According to Greenwich Town Planner Patrick LaRow at a recent P&Z hearing, since 2020, smoke shops have proliferated in Greenwich. Much of the proliferation is in response to New York increasing restrictions and sales taxes on tobacco and nicotine related products, particularly ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems) and flavored vapes. Since CT does not have laws equal to NY, the west side of Greenwich (Byram, in particular) near the New York border has seen an increas
