Forget about rushing through a school zone. New photo speed camera enforcement has arrived in Greenwich. This program was originally set to launch with warnings after October 6 and then tickets issued after November 5, but it was delayed for reasons unspecified.

The program is now on track. Starting Monday, October 20, you will receive a warning in the mail for driving 10+ MPH over the posted limit. Starting November 19, the warnings stop, and tickets begin. $50 for the first offense.

The photo speed cameras were placed in high-risk areas that were found to have a high concentration of traffic and where speed studies showed that 20% of drivers were traveling above the speed limit. The cameras will be operating at five Greenwich schools: Eagle Hill School (Glenville Road), Brunswick Lower School (King Street), Central Middle School (Orchard Street), Greenwich Academy (North Maple Avenue) and North Street School. More locations will follow and will likely include Glenville School, Greenwich High School and Parkway School that were announced earlier.

Between the Lines: No exceptions, no excuses, no connections and no apologies - it's just the ticket ma'am (or sir).
