Greenwich Selectman prevails against Democrat Board of Ed power grab - but illegal meetings continue

The Greenwich Patriots, a parent-led Board of Ed (BOE) watchdog group, delivered a scathing message at Thursday's Oct 23 BOE meeting, echoing what many residents were thinking.

The Freedom of Information Court definitively ruled in favor of First Selectman Camillo on Wednesday October 22 declaring that the October 2024 actions taken by BOE Democrats (Hirsch, Kostin, Koven, Stowe) to call a meeting to install their preferred candidate (Jen Behette) into an open Republican seat that should have been filled by Paul Cappiali, were illegal and declared null and void. But the BOE meeting on Thursday evening was held without Paul Cappiali present - as if nothing happened. Until the BOE is properly constituted, the BOE's decisions may have questionable legal standing.

At the meeting, Greenwich Patriot founder Jackie Homan said what many were thinking, "You are all sitting here pretending that what you did was legit, continuing the charade. Even the imposter board member (Behette) is here. You had the audacity to sit there for nearly a whole year and pretend like you had the moral high ground – and then after the preliminary ruling came out instead of apologizing, you doubled-down. You should all resign in shame."

She further stated, "In addition to apologizing for your outrageous behavior, you, the Board Democrats, should cover all of the legal expenses the town has incurred on both sides because the taxpaying citizens of Greenwich absolutely do not want to get stuck with the bill for your now-failed coup."

Between the Lines: How about an apology, or a resignation, or reimbursement to the Town's taxpayers for the legal costs.
