Will CT ratepayers get relief from sky high electric rates?

Democrats (who control all the levers of power) and Republicans both agree that energy costs in Connecticut are way too high and are a drag on economic growth. So far in 2025, thirty-eight bills have been introduced to tackle this problem, of which five propose to remove the public benefits charge completely from electric bills.


Not all lawmakers want the public benefits charges removed. Many Democrat Environmentalists not only want the public benefits charge to remain on electric bills, but they want to expand the programs they fund.


Between the lines: Click here to tell lawmakers they need to fund these extra charges including "green" initiatives through the General Fund. Our utility bills should not include any extra fees that are unrelated to the purchase or delivery of electricity.
