Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives, passed a bill requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote in Federal elections. Voting in favor were 221, mostly Republicans, and voting against were 198 Democrats. Connecticut’s Democrat Congressional representatives voted against this citizen’s only voting bill including Jim Himes whose 4th Congressional district covers Greenwich.
This citizen’s only voting bill is unlikely to become law. A companion bill in the U.S. Senate, has no support from Democrats including Connecticut’s two Senators Blumenthal and Murphy, and President Biden said he would veto it.
Republicans feel that Biden’s open border policies are designed to build a massive new Democratic voting block. Democrats feel these rules are too burdensome to implement.
Between the lines. It’s hard to believe that CT citizens are ok with having their votes diluted by non-citizens.
