What Duracell departure from CT means

Battery company Duracell announced in February its plans to move its research and development headquarters from Bethel, CT to Atlanta, GA. This move will impact about 100 to150 employees based in Bethel.

Other recent prominent business closures in CT have included Lego whose move to Boston impacted 740 employees in Enfield, CT and Campbell's hub and snack business (Pepperidge Farms) move from Norwalk to Camden, NJ, impacting 170 jobs.

This week, AI mortgage company Tomo announced its plans to move from Stamford to NYC.

Between the Lines - CT still has fewer payroll jobs than it did at its all-time peak in March 2008. Perhaps our politicians could solve the high cost of operating a business in CT (e.g. electricity, taxes) and stop with piling on anti-business regulation such as passing laws to give unemployment benefits to striking workers.
