It happened at dinner time around 6 pm on Tuesday September 23 at the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity house at Syracuse University in upstate NY. Members of this Jewish fraternity were gathered for a Rosh Hashanah dinner.
Two 18-year-old Syracuse University sophomores were involved - one from Greenwich who drove the car, and the other who entered the house and threw an open plastic bag of raw pork against the wall. The Greenwich student, who graduated from GHS, was Kyle Anderson and the other was Samuel Patten. They were charged with burglary and a hate crime.
Here is Christopher Fountain's blog about this. It is entitled "A pair of idiots dreams deferred".
Between the Lines: A reminder that teens can do very dumb things that can have serious consequences. Did you know that in Greek, the word Sophomore means "wise fool"?
