On Friday morning, August 28, Greenwich High students and parents arriving for the first day of school were met with flashing lights, blocked lanes, and a motorcycle chase.
Around 7:30 a.m., an unregistered 169cc motorcycle carrying two teens blew through a red light near Hillside Road, passing stopped traffic by weaving westbound into oncoming eastbound lanes. After ignoring police signals, the driver was intercepted on Overlook Drive, where he physically resisted arrest.

Greenwich Police were out in full force for school opening day. A dedicated traffic detail across local school zones resulted in 33 traffic stops, yielding 21 infractions, 8 warnings, and multiple arrests—including a separate driver clocked at 55 mph in a 30 mph zone right outside GHS.
