Most of Connecticut's 73 beaches on the Long Island Sound earned top grades of A or B for water quality based on Save the Sound ratings released here.

The lowest score, a D-, went to Byram Park Beach in Western Greenwich, this was an improvement from last year when the beach got a failing grade of F. Byram Park Beach will be automatically closed if over one-third inch of rain happens, this was recently lowered from the one-half inch mark.

Greenwich Point Beach (Tod's) in Old Greenwich and Island Beach received C grades.

Good news, Great Captain Island Beach got an A- rating. Time to get on the ferry and enjoy that beach. Ferries normally start on June 14, but this one is delayed to June 20 due to engine work. Schedule here.
