On August 8, 2025, at around 10:30 PM, Greenwich Police responded to fireworks incident at a multi-unit residence on Moshier Street near Pemberwick Park in the western area of Greenwich. The officers observed damage to the front entry awning, siding, and flower bed of the residence.

Multiple witnesses reported that a male suspect exited a vehicle, ignited a firework, and threw it toward the home. The device ricocheted off a parked vehicle before detonating against the structure. The suspect who was with two others fled the scene.

Luca Dominic Scott, 19-year-old, from Greenwich, was arrested for setting off a commercial grade firework, causing property damage and risk to occupants. In an updated story by the Greenwich Time here, Mr. Scott described it as a prank, but residents said he had a long history of harrassment.

Police say incidents like this serve as a reminder of the serious dangers associated with fireworks—especially commercial-grade devices in the hands of untrained individuals. Beyond causing property damage, fireworks can result in life-altering injuries, spark dangerous fires, and threaten the safety of entire neighborhoods.

Between the Lines: A firework thrown so hard that it "ricochets off a car" (impressive throwing arm). Luckily no serious harm done ("damage to the flower bed"). It's a reminder that throwing fireworks is a dangerous business.
