Suddenly a Greenwich Avenue Store is Shuttered

All of a sudden, The Piccolina Shop at 82 Greenwich Avenue has gone dark. The baby retailer's storefront is locked, the social media has vanished, the phones have been disconnected and the once-vibrant displays of organic cotton and high-end strollers sit silent.

The story was not supposed to end this way. It was founded in July 2020 by three local moms—Lenamarie "Lena" Scilipoti, Alejandra Salazar, and Janice Wright—who were the institutional memory of baby retail in Greenwich. Together, they held a 20-year history on the Avenue, having served parents at giggle (102 Greenwich Ave) from the early 2000s until its corporate collapse in 2017, and later at JoJo Maman Bébé (60 Greenwich Ave) from 2018 until that shop shuttered in 2020.

After navigating the challenge of online shopping and the height of the pandemic, these three women bet on themselves, opening an independent boutique designed to be a personal "Mom" shopping experience. But after more than five years of navigating the retail gauntlet, the doors have closed as of February 2026. State records show that Frank Santelli is listed as principal (President) alongside founder Lena Scilipoti (Vice President).

But twenty years of goodwill can vanish quickly when customers are left in the lurch with no communication. According to an interview by the CT Insider, a Greenwich customer said she "found a woman outside crying because she had apparently ordered an expensive stroller but hadn't received it. No one is responding." On Reddit, one customer said, "At this point, we're extremely concerned. My wife is 37 weeks pregnant, and we're waiting on items we've already paid for and need before the baby arrives."

Between the Lines: When a boutique marketed as a "personal Mom experience" goes dark, the breach of trust feels twice as deep. It also suggests the high-end Greenwich Avenue retail economy may not be as strong as most think.
