Speeding near Greenwich schools? - don't think about it

Forget about rushing through a school zone. New photo speed camera enforcement has arrived in Greenwich and the grace period is short.
Starting October 6, you will receive a warning in the mail for driving 10+ MPH over the posted limit. But mark your calendar. Starting November 5, the warnings stop, and tickets begin. $50 for the first offense.
The photo speed cameras target high-risk areas and are installed at Central, Glenville, Greenwich Academy, Greenwich High School, Parkway, North Street, Brunswick Lower School and Eagle Hill. Why these schools? They were found to have a high concentration of traffic and speed studies showed that over a 5-day period, 20% of drivers were traveling above the speed limit.
Update issued October 3 by Greenwich Police: the launch of this program has been delayed until further notice. Carry on.
Between the Lines: Just the ticket, ma'am.
