Thanks to the efforts of Sidewalks on Shore and the cooperation of impacted residents, in 2023, sidewalks were installed along Shore Road in Old Greenwich. From that success, the Sidewalks on Shore group is now working towards extending the sidewalks along the very narrow strip from Sound Beach Avenue leading up to Tod's Point. A line item of $250,000 has been allocated in the upcoming budget to study what many believe might be a very expensive, if not impossible, project. Clearly, if it could be done, at a reasonable cost and with cooperating homeowners, it would greatly benefit the community.
Some helpful FAQs are on the website: Will this take away my parking? Who does the snow clearing? Am I liable if someone trips? Will more people walk in front of my house? What about my hedge? Will trees removed? Other questions arise from the need, if any, for the Town to take property away (eminent domain) and the impact on the large homeowners association leading up to Tod's.
