A group of concerned Town of Greenwich residents are working on a proposed ordinance that would set rules for the first time about removing trees from private property. In light of the clearcutting of trees on private property by developers and by our own Governor, there is concern about how to preserve trees that are a vital part of the clear air, drainage control, and beaty of the Town.
A draft of this ordinance was slated to go before the RTM (Representative Town Meeting) earlier this year but was withdrawn because it needed more work. Some of the concerns raised about the first draft included somewhat onerous permits, fees and regulations on private land owners who feel they have say over what happens with their property. This survey here is an easy way to have your voice heard on this.
