Ashton Clearcutting. An update on the illegal tree removal in protected wetlands behind Governor Ned Lamont's home, has Lamont taking responsibility. Lamont acknowledged that he, together with the Ashton neighborhood association, hired the "Your Gardening Angels" landscape contractor whom he relied on to get proper permits. Also, he denied the clearcutting was intended to improve his view of the lake below, but to remove dead trees. A hearing by the Greenwich Inland Wetlands & Watercourses on a unified replanting plan with the neighboring land on which trees were accidentally cut down is scheduled for the week of May 20. I-95 Clearcutting. Months before Governor Lamont’s illegal massacre of more than 180 trees on his own “protected” wetland property in mid-country Greenwich, the Governor, who claims to be a champion of the environment, presided over an even greater tree massacre according to this Connecticut Centinel story. This culling was carried out by the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT DOT) along the I-95 corridor where thousands of trees have been removed over the last year or two. The pictures in this story are heartbreaking.
