Last week, Tavon Douglas, 32 of New Haven pleaded guilty to firing a gunshot at another vehicle in a road rage confrontation on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich. At the Round Hill Road, exit 28, around 7pm on June 13, 2023, there was a large fight on the side of the parkway between a driver, Marvin Harris, 43 of Shelton, and a group of motorcyclists including Tavon Douglas.
The motorcyclists claim that Harris, the driver, was brake checking them and not allowing them to pass. Douglas fired a gun at Harris' vehicle and Harris called police saying he was assaulted by a group of motorcyclists.
Another motorcyclists was John Whitley, a 35-year old from Wilmington, Delaware, who confessed to officers that he shoved and struck Harris and then mounted Douglas' motorcycle and fled the scene. Whitley was charged with assault, operating an unregistered vehicle, theft of plates and failure to insure the vehicle
