Revolving Door: Greenwich Police Keep Arresting the Same Homeless Man

Grant Sneddon, a 65-year-old man whose address is listed on Mulberry Lane in Cos Cob, has been arrested four times in recent weeks as part of an ongoing cycle with local law enforcement.
On Monday, October 12, 2026, around 8:30 p.m., Greenwich police responded to Whole Foods at 90 East Putnam Avenue following reports of a man following shoppers around the store. Upon arrival, officers immediately recognized Sneddon from numerous prior encounters. Because he had previously been served a formal warning banning him from the property, officers charged him with Criminal Trespass in the First Degree.
Timeline of Incidents:
January 28–29, 2025: Sneddon was charged with criminal trespass at Riverside Commons twice in 48 hours, signaling an early pattern of location-specific bans.
May 23, 2025: Greenwich Police formally issued Sneddon a criminal trespass warning for the Whole Foods Plaza at 90 East Putnam Avenue at the request of the property manager, officially barring him from returning.
September 22, 2026: Sneddon was issued a misdemeanor summons for Criminal Trespass after returning to the Whole Foods property.
October 7, 2026 (~7:30 p.m.): Police responded to Whole Foods following reports of an unhoused man urinating against the building and sitting on outdoor patio tables. Officers found Sneddon’s belongings scattered along the walkway next to a puddle smelling strongly of urine. Sneddon admitted he had been sitting there for two hours and acknowledged the liquid was urine, but claimed someone else was responsible without his noticing. He was charged with Criminal Trespass and Creating a Public Disturbance.
October 9, 2026 (~3:00 p.m.): Officers were dispatched to the corner of 1137 East Putnam Avenue and Lockwood Lane in Riverside after a passerby spotted Sneddon sitting on a commercial property he was banned from. A driver stopped in traffic reported seeing Sneddon actively exposing himself and urinating in plain view of the road, causing her alarm and prompting a call to 911. He was charged with Criminal Trespass and Creating a Public Disturbance.
Following his latest processing, Sneddon was released on a promise to appear at Stamford Superior Court scheduled for October 26, 2026.
Between the Lines: Arresting a 65-year-old man experiencing homelessness over and over isn’t a solution—it's just moving him from one Greenwich sidewalk to another. It burns police resources and strains local property owners while ignoring the need for mandated institutional care. Until the court system moves past the simple "promise to appear" loop on October 26, the revolving door will keep spinning.
