There will be a hybrid public hearing on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room to share the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) accessibility improvements plan for Greenwich Avenue.
Improvements will include parking, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, curbs, landscape beds, and lighting.
The Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works (DPW) is planning modifications along Greenwich Avenue to improve ADA-accessibility. Some of the existing infrastructure on Greenwich Avenue is deficient per modern ADA design requirements which must be addressed when reconstructing sidewalks or repaving.
Some questions that can be addressed at this meeting include:
Are we currently out of compliance with ADA or only required to follow ADA when doing new construction?
Is an additional $500,000 needed for this work and why has it not been detailed in the budget?
Is the ultimate plan to make Greenwich Avenue pedestrian only?
