Powerful CT budget official arrested

Konstantinos “Kosta” Diamantis, a former Democratic state representative, was deputy secretary of the Office of Policy Management until he was placed on leave and resigned in October 2021.  He played a key role in and benefitted financially from offshore wind projects (State Pier in New London) and from steering school construction grants to a selective few (including his daughter) under no bid contracts.

The CT Mirror has done extensive reporting on Diamantis’ alleged crimes and the seemingly unaccountable system he lorded over.  For example, on the Tolland, CT, elementary school project, “We were told this is who you are going to hire and if you don’t, then you won’t get any state money, and there was no one else to go to because Kosta answered to no one,” said Rep Tammy Nuccio (Republican from Tolland). “Let’s face it — this is embarrassing for the administration, because this is the guy who they put in this position with no one to watch him.”

Did any of this impact decisions or State reimbursements in the Town of Greenwich?
