Possible Murder-Suicide in Old Greenwich

On Tuesday August 5, 2025, Greenwich police responded to a welfare check at a home on 11 Shorelands Place in Old Greenwich. They found two deceased people inside the residence. The deceased have been identified as Suzanne Adams, 83, and Stein Erik Soelberg, 56, both living at 11 Shorelands Place. They were mother and son.


A report by the Chief Medical Examiner on Friday said that Soelberg died by suicide caused by sharp force injuries of neck and chest. Adams died from blunt injury of head with neck compression.


Mr. Soelberg graduated from Brunswick School in Greenwich in 1987. He had a recent history of arrests for DUI (reported here) and disorderly conduct/criminal mischief (reported here).
