Plans for new Hamill rink moving forward

On Tues Feb 20 at 10 am the Selectmen will review request to refer the Hamill Rink Project to Planning & Zoning. The current rink is 31,200 square feet and 50 years old.

The proposed plan is to construct a new 40,660 square foot rink. The new facility will be at the location of the current Strazza baseball field north of the existing rink. This will allow the rink to continue to operate while the new building is being constructed. Once the new facility is in operation, the existing rink will be demolished and replaced by a new 90’ hard ball baseball diamond. A pedestrian walking path will be constructed around the ballfield and the skating

rink. The current Sue Merz Way access off Sherman Avenue will be maintained.
