A new list of Sanctuary Jurisdictions has been released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the state of Connecticut is still on it. According to this updated Federal order, a state is a "Sanctuary" Jurisdiction" if it obstructs or limits local law enforcement cooperation with immigration officials, or restricts information sharing, funding, jail access or other similar regulations.

CT Attorney General WiIliam Tong (D) denies that Connecticut is a sanctuary state. He says this is "concocted fiction". AG Tong claims that the DHS is falsely labeling Connecticut as a state sanctuary jurisdiction.

On the other hand, Republican state senators Rob Sampson (R-Wolcott) and Stephen Harding (R-Litchfield) say Connecticut is not just a sanctuary state -- it is a "Super Sanctuary" state. They claim that CT Democrats prohibit local and state law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities - including those who have been convicted for violent felonies.

Governor Lamont (D) recently stated he doesn't want anyone referring to Connecticut as a sanctuary state.

Are AG Tong and Gov Lamont aware that CT passed a Trust Act in 2013, further expanded in 2019, that limits cooperation with federal authorities in identifying and detaining undocumented immigrants?
