The Old Greenwich Village District Overlay (OGVDO) proposal is moving forward and now in front of Planning & Zoning. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday March 19 at 4pm on Zoom. Details here. It is item 12b on the agenda.
The general purpose of the overlay zone is to Implement a design review process which can preserve and enhance the traditional land use pattern, scale and architectural styles of the Old Greenwich commercial center. The Village District also seeks to strengthen walkability and pedestrian engagement with local businesses. In other words - no high-rises.
Other such zones have been set up in CT and perhaps this will be a template for some of our other districts in Greenwich.
