How The Survey Measured It

The study evaluated several key metrics to measure family appeal:

  • Growth trends in the local youth population

  • Percentage of households with children

  • Poverty and economic stability rates

  • Academic performance on statewide school assessments

Combined, these factors offer a snapshot of the Connecticut neighborhoods proving most desirable for growing families.

Why Old Greenwich Stands Out

In Old Greenwich, 42% of households include children—one of the highest concentrations in the state. Beyond the data, families place a high value on:

  • Walkability

  • Closeness to friends and neighbors

  • Accessibility to Metro-North and I-95

  • Top-rated public and private schools nearby

  • Ability to walk and bike to school

  • Pumpkin Patch Lady, a 10-foot sculpture, unveiled every October

Between the Lines: Some towns have their Lucy the Elephant (Margate, NJ) or their Big Duck (Long Island), but in Old Greenwich, it takes a village...and a giant pumpkin lady.
