It was only as recently as April 2025, that the Old Greenwich Building Committee held a groundbreaking ceremony (story here) for the school renovation project. At that time, they announced a goal of being completely done by January 2028.
But by July 2025, the project took a different turn. At the August 14 Board of Selectmen meeting, Selectperson Janet Stone McGuigan provided an update (video here). She reported that "Unfortunately, the combination of the bid process and the uncertainty of the imposition of tariffs have negatively impacted the committee's ability to start construction without a significant revision to the construction phasing plan."
The delays seemed to involve expensive tradeoffs impacting the well-being of students and staff in the building. The committee aims to revise drawings and bring the project back out to bid in late 2025, delaying the start of construction to Spring 2026. The construction completion target is now January 2029.
Between the Lines: That's what can happen with a phased, occupied renovation project.
