Locals call it the "traffic bitch" forum. The Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works (DPW), in conjunction with the Traffic and Pedestrian Safety Task Force (Greenwich Police, Fire, Planning and Zoning, and Parking Services Departments), is hosting a series of public meetings to gain valuable public input on traffic and pedestrian safety.
At the March 18 meeting covering Riverside/Old Greenwich, trouble spots included:
Perna Lane - used as a cut through to I-95 from Route 1
Shore Road, Old Greenwich (Sound Beach to Tod's) - sidewalks, congestion, speeding bikes
Old Greenwich School - road safety
Oval Ave & Summit, Riverside - sidewalks
Balducci's, Riverside to Cos Cob School - sidewalks by Diamond Hill
Edgewater - illegal parking
Club Road & Riverside Ave - speeding
Neil Lane/Riverside Commons, Exit 5 - Unsafe
Sheephill/Silo Hill - Street lights not working
Civic Center - Bike safety
King's/OG Train - Parking lot cut through
OG Side Streets - 18-Wheelers coming from Stamford via Shore Road
St Paul's on Riverside Avenue - needs crosswalks
Palmer Hill Road (Havemeyer to Old Stone Bridge at Valley Rd) - sidewalks
To accommodate the public and effectively collect community feedback throughout town, there will be five neighborhood-specific hybrid night meetings and an additional daytime meeting that will encompass all areas of town. If you cannot attend any meeting, a form is provided. Next up Cos Cob April 10
