No Greenwich Fireworks on July 4? You Can Still Honor the Day

Does anyone know why the Greenwich fireworks are scheduled for Thursday, July 2? Moving the main event ahead of the holiday weekend feels inconvenient and a bit inauthentic especially for the 250th. Perhaps the town scored a budget discount on the shooters and sparklers by booking early.
Either way, it means while Greenwich residents are left to wistfully watch the skies over New Canaan or Rye Playland on the actual Saturday, July 4, you still have one standout local option to celebrate our freedom on the real holiday. Head down to Town Hall this Saturday at 9:00 AM
The annual ceremony will feature the raising of the original 13 colonies' American flag, live music, salutes to our Patriots, and historical readings. Best of all? You can enjoy a slice of America’s birthday cake after the ceremony.
Between the Lines: Why does Greenwich embrace Yankee thriftiness when it comes to fireworks, but completely forget it when drafting the rest of the town budget?
