Monday, January 20, 2025, will be an historic day to celebrate.
MLK Day. It's a day to honor civil rights champion Martin Luther King who said "I look to the day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Over the weekend in DC there will be an annual peace walk and parade on Saturday, a concert at the Kennedy Center on Sunday and a rally and March led by Al Sharpton on Monday. A day of community service is planned in many communities in his honor.
DJT Inauguration. Donald J. Trump will be inaugurated to the 47th Presidency. The ceremony starts at noon in the Capitol Rotunda. CT Governor Lamont will be one of four Democrat governors attending the inauguration. The CT Governor also authorized the deployment of more than 200 Connecticut national guard to DC for inauguration security. A luncheon will follow along with a parade inside the Washington's Capitol One Arena.
Between the lines: And, of course, at 8 pm the College Football Playoffs will take place between Notre Dame and Ohio State. What a fitting day to cheer for the underdog.
