Updated: Jun 18, 2024

Bogdan Pau, 54, of Tarzana, CA California was arrested in Greenwich on Thursday after police say he tried to fraudulently purchase $50,000 worth of jewelry from Manfredi on Greenwich Avenue around 1:30 pm on June 13.

An investigation found that Paun was trying to use a stolen credit card with a counterfeit Washington state ID card to impersonate someone else in order to buy $50,000 worth of several watches and a silver bracelet. A search of Paun's car found additional counterfeit IDs bearing his photo, and more stolen credit cards.

Paun was unable to post a $250,000 bond; he's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 28.
