Is Greenwich's Cos Cob Post Office Closure Temporary—or Permanent?

In this week’s Community Connections newsletter, First Selectman Fred Camillo addressed mounting community concern over the sudden closure of the Cos Cob Post Office, effective August 7 (announced August 10). His office is actively coordinating with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to obtain clearer timeline details.

"All we have been told so far is that the Post Office has suspended service at this location for repairs and that this is only a temporary closure. To the best of our understanding, the location will be reopened once those repairs are completed, but we have not been given a timeline."

Official USPS Statement

The Postal Service issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation:

"The Postal Service understands the importance of your local Post Office and apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers. We are assessing the repair at Cos Cob Post Office and will be updating the community as soon as possible."

Between the Lines: An unannounced closure combined with an indefinite repair timeline gives Cos Cob residents every reason to wonder if this "temporary suspension" is laying the groundwork for a permanent closure.
