Hundred's more trees were removed behind governor's Greenwich home

Who can count the number of trees removed behind Governor Lamont’s home?

Environmental Consultant Fain: 375 trees

Greenwich Officials: 186 trees

S.E. Minor: 87 trees

Governor Lamont claims the tree removal was not for the purpose of improving his view of the lake below and he stated that the contractor went "beyond the scope a little bit" with the work.

The work spanning 1,200 feet across several acres occurred without permits in a protected wetland in November and has prompted an investigation, according to the Greenwich Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Agency. With Lamont involved, it has turned a neighborhood dispute into an issue of statewide interest as he and his neighbors look to rectify the situation and face fines due to the unauthorized work.

Next public hearing scheduled for May 20.
