How Convenient: Eversource's 18% Rate Hike Won't Face the Public Until After You Vote

Connecticut residents already shoulder some of the highest electric bills in the country. Now, Eversource wants an additional $727 million—a 50% spike in delivery charges that translates to an 18% increase on the average family's total bill (about $400 more per year) starting July 2027.
The kicker? Public hearings don't start until the week after Election Day.
Eversource executives have spent recent earnings calls reassuring Wall Street analysts that the political heat will cool down after November and regulatory decisions will smooth out. They are banking on voters not paying attention until the ballots are already cast.

You can submit written comments directly to PURA at their email address PURA.ExecutiveSecretary@ct.gov referencing Docket No. 26-05-10.
Between the Lines: They are hoping you aren't paying attention. But every time you look at the drooping overhead wires and abandoned double poles across Greenwich, you're reminded of what you're already overpaying for. Vote accordingly.
