Home Market Foods of Needham, Mass, the top producer of meatballs in North America, is moving meat production operations into South Windsor, CT. The updated facility is expected to open June 2025, creating 210 jobs by the end of 2027. In industry news, the Company said the location was chosen partly because of the availability of "skilled" labour.
The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (i.e. CT taxpayers) is providing up to $4 million in tax credits over the next 10 years.
Between the lines: The $4 million tax credit amounts to a generous $19,048 for each of the 210 promised "skilled" labour jobs. Is this how Hartford gets jobs to come to CT?
