According to the CT Capitol Report, Betsy McCaughey (R) is ready to throw her hat into the ring in a run for Connecticut Governor against incumbent Ned Lamont (D). She would join two young Republican candidates including State Senator Ryan Fazio and New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart who are actively campaigning to challenge the sitting Democrat governor.
Some might call McCaughey a carpetbagger from New York. Her background includes serving as lieutenant governor of New York in the George Pataki Administration (1995-1998). She has a colorful, somewhat turbulent, history of party loyalty and was not invited to run again with Pataki for his second term.

McCaughey is currently a fill-in host and frequent guest on NewsMax (video here). McCaughey has been firing off a barrage of tweets criticizing sitting Governor Ned Lamont (D) and making appearances on the conservative cable channel NewsMax. Her activity is sparking rumors that she’s prepping an entrance into the race for governor.

Most interesting is the Greenwich connection among the candidates. Betsy McCaughey now resides in the back country section of Greenwich. CT State Senator Ryan Fazio whose senate district spans Greenwich/Stamford, grew up in Greenwich and lives in the Mianus section of town. Incumbent Governor Ned Lamont lives in the mid-country section of Greenwich.
Between the Lines: Greenwich: where the political power players—incumbent, challenger, and potential spoiler—all hang out.
