Greenwich: The Location of the Most Valuable Homes in CT

2 min read

Eighty of the 100 most valuable homes in Connecticut are located in a single town: Greenwich.

Claiming the top spot on the list is the waterfront estate at 60 Field Point Circle in Belle Haven, carrying an estimated market value of $65.5 million. The compound has long been associated with the Sackler family, founders of Purdue Pharma, whose real estate holdings have drawn national scrutiny amid multi-billion-dollar opioid litigation settlements and bankruptcy proceedings.

Waterfront over Backcountry acreage

While Greenwich’s pastoral Backcountry is famous for sprawling equestrian estates, every single property in the top 15 sits along coastal shoreline peninsulas (Belle Haven, Mead Point, Riverside, and Byram Shore). These days, direct access to Long Island Sound commands a decisive premium over interior acreage.

Between the Lines: Clearly the owners of these waterfront homes are not too worried about global warming, but they might be worried about Hartford's proposed annual state property tax surcharge on multi-million dollar homes.
