Greenwich Selectman designates June as Pride month and raises flag at Town Hall


PROCLAMATION from Fred Camillo, First Selectman 


WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich proudly supports the rights of every citizen to experience equality and freedom from discrimination; and


WHEREAS, All people regardless of age, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, or physical challenges have the right to be treated on the basis of their intrinsic value as human beings; and


WHEREAS, The Town of Greenwich accepts and welcomes people of diverse backgrounds and believes a diverse population leads to a more vibrant community; and


WHEREAS, The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) communities contribute to the cultural, civic and economic successes of the Town of Greenwich; and


WHEREAS, We as a society acknowledge the need for education and awareness to end discrimination and prejudice.


NOW, THEREFORE, l, FRED CAMILLO, FIRST SELECTMAN OF THE TOWN OF GREENWICH,

do hereby proclaim June 2024 as

Pride Month in Greenwich


and encourage residents to reflect on the ongoing struggle for equality that members of the LGBTQ community face and celebrate their contributions that enhance our Town.


Pride Flag raising will be held on Sunday June 2, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Town Hall.
