According to the 2026 Forbes World’s Billionaires list released earlier this week, 8 of the 15 Connecticut billionaires reside in Greenwich. The town continues to be a major hub for the world’s ultra-wealthy, particularly those in the hedge fund and investment sectors.
The Greenwich list:
Greenwich dominates the state’s wealth rankings, accounting for more than half of Connecticut’s billionaires. Here are the top heavyweights leading the pack:
Steven Cohen: Ranks 111th globally with a net worth of $23 billion. The Point72 founder and Mets owner remains the wealthiest person in the state.
Brad Jacobs: Ranked #166 with $17.1 billion. The logistics mogul behind XPO and QXO has seen a significant climb in the rankings this year.
Ray Dalio: Ranked #188 with $15.4 billion. The Bridgewater Associates founder continues to be a staple of the Greenwich billionaire community.
Other notable Greenwich residents on the list include:
Alexandre Behring (#720, $5.8B)
Stephen Mandel, Jr. (#852, $5B)
Vincent McMahon (#1189, $3.6B)
Mario Gabelli (#1913, $2.2B)
Clifford Asness (#664, $6.3B)
Between the Lines: These eight individuals alone represent nearly $80 billion in combined net worth. Let's hope for the sake of our high tax rolls—and the stability of our state budget—that they keep their primary residences right here in Connecticut.
