Greenwich residents McMahon joined by Warzoha to lead Dept of Education

Updated: Mar 7

On Monday night, Linda McMahon was confirmed as Secretary of Education in President Trump's cabinet. McMahon, co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) resides in Greenwich.

Former Connecticut Senate candidate and Republican megadonor, McMahon served in Trump's first cabinet in 2017 as head of the Small Business Administration. She will take over the Department that had been headed by another CT native, Miguel Cardona from Meriden, CT.

Joining Secretary McMahon will be another long time Greenwich resident Stephen Warzoha. He is currently the VIce Chair of the Greenwich Republican Town Committee. Warzoha comes from a family of educators.

McMahon wants to "reorient" the department, vowing to listen to parents, not federal bureaucrats, and empower states, not special interests. She is in favor of school choice and preventing transgender athletes from competing in women's sports. She is also in favor of defunding colleges and universities that allow antisemitism on campuses.

She was approved by a Senate vote of 51 in favor and 45 against. Our two CT Democrat Senators Murphy and Blumenthal voted against her.

Between the Lines - Many Connecticut teachers took off on Tuesday to protest pending cuts at the state capitol in Hartford.
