The Greenwich Republican primary results are in and the six-member Republican slate for the powerful finance board (BET) has been determined. They will be:
Joe Pellegrino - 1,712 votes
Joe Kelly - 1,694 votes
Sally Bednar - 1,570 votes
Leslie Tarkington - 1,541 votes
Josh Brown - 1,540 votes
Harry Fisher 1,530 votes
These candidates were helped by the endorsement of First Selectman Fred Camillo and Selectwoman Lauren Rabin. They stood for a more centrist bi-partisan BET.
Those who did not get over the finish line included incumbents David Alfano 1,376 votes, Nisha Arora 1,303 votes and Lucia Jansen 1,288 votes; and John Hopley 1,186 votes, Phil Dodson 1,179 votes and Alessandra Brus 1,116. These candidates campaigned for a much tougher approach to keeping tax increases in check.
Karen Fassuliotis, an incumbent, will be on the ballot on November 4, backed by the Independent party.
Between the Lines: The voter engagement in this race should help in the battle against the 6-member Democrat slate in November. Remember, the party with the most votes gets to select the Chair position which has tie-breaking powers.
