On Tuesday in the early morning of September 23, a man was injured when trying to intervene while a motor vehicle theft was underway. It happened on Windy Knolls, a road in the Pemberwick area of Western Greenwich.
In a video interview by News12 Connecticut here, the victim, 31-year-old Gonzalo Forero, tells the story. At around 5 am, he heard noise outside and saw that his father-in-law's black Honda Pilot was being stolen right from their driveway. He immediately ran out and chased the thieves down the street, even though he was still barefoot and in his boxers. He came face to face with the car thieves when one of them pulled out a gun and opened fire on him. The bullet narrowly missed him. Luckily he only suffered minor cuts to his leg and knee from the shrapnel.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Bridgeport. Update: On Wednesday, Sep 23, police arrested 18-year-old Jayden Ganthier, at his residence in Bridgeport, Ct.
Between the Lines: The audacity of stealing a man's car in his own neighborhood and shooting him while he is barefoot and in his boxers.
