Good data from this CT Centinal story about Greenwich taxes. Since 2006, Greenwich taxes have grown 77% faster than inflation, despite flat population growth and declining school enrollment.
The author states that much of the Town's capital spending has been extravagant e.g. underutilized high school auditorium, huge police and fire complex downtown, oversized Central Middle School and expensive and large OGS renovation. Pressure is coming from generous pay raises for Town employees and rising healthcare costs. Add to that big government and excessive regulations e.g. housing trust, rent fairness committee, banning gas leaf blowers, speech committees, etc.
Good thing people are still moving here to pick up the tab, but how long will that last?
