In a statement made On Friday March 14, First Selectman Fred Camillo shared his priority list of Greenwich building projects. Key to many of his initiatives are resident run task forces and private-public partnerships to help with community buy-in and defraying of costs. Projects include:
Hamill Rink: a report from a new task force to be presented later this year to start construction on a new skating facility.
Veterans Plaza Park: a plan to re-dedicate the park in the next 12-15 months on Greenwich Ave (near Restoration Hardware) with a lit fountain and statue of President George H.W. Bush.
Havemeyer Building: Issuance shortly of a professional review of RFPs received to find a new home for the Board of Education offices and create a more valuable use of the building and property.
Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center - Scheduled to open within a month offering lots of new recreational activities.
Other projects: Western Greenwich Greenway hiking trails; a second dog park in Byram; Greenwich Crossing by the Greenwich train station opening this summer; and grants to provide unique flood mitigation measures for properties prone to flooding.
Between the Lines: It's a good wish list.
