The Greenwich Cigar & Stationary store, with the iconic red Te-Amo sign, at 91 Railroad Avenue, closed this summer. It was a longstanding tobacco shop across from the Greenwich train station that also sold newspapers and lottery tickets, The building was old, constructed in 1898.

Replacing it will be fast casual restaurant chain, The Taco Project. They serve tacos, burritos and quesadillas with favorites including Birria Tacos and Pork Belly Tacos. The Taco Project began operations in 2014 in Tarrytown and now has five locations in Westchester county, NY and one in Stamford that opened in 2022.
The new store is now going through the Greenwich P&Z process to approve its designation as an operation with limited dedicated parking and to amend the rear building lines along that block of Railroad Avenue.
Between the Lines: While the iconic neighborhood store will be missed by Greenwich townies, The Taco Project looks like a welcome upgrade.
