Glenville Renaissance Coming Soon

If you’ve driven through Glenville lately, you’ve likely spent a few minutes idling between orange cones near Pemberwick Road. But there is a major light at the end of the tunnel. Glenville is moving from vacant storefronts and construction headaches to a walkable foodie paradise—just in time for the summer season.
DeCicco & Sons: A Connecticut First
The wait is officially almost over. The Summer 2026 opening of DeCicco & Sons at 21 Glenville St. (at the old Stop & Shop that closed in June 2023) isn't just a rumor—it's in high gear. While they are a household name in New York, this marks their 11th popular location and their very first foray into Connecticut.
The "Foodie Loop"
Thanks to the nearly-finished DPW project—which has been installing ADA-compliant sidewalks and upgraded traffic signals—the neighborhood is finally becoming walkable with some popular food stops along the way.
The Healthy Start: Kick off at Green & Tonic. Now firmly established in the shopping center, it’s the neighborhood hub for "Better Arch Burgers" and their signature protein cold foam coffees.
The Gourmet Hallmark: Pop into DeCicco’s to check out the progress. This 20,000-square-foot store brings its legendary craft beer selection and gourmet deli culture to our side of the border.
The Neighborhood Classic: You can’t walk Glenville without hitting Glenville Pizza. They’ve been the neighborhood anchor since 1976. The construction actually added three new parking spaces directly west of the pizzeria to make those quick pickups easier.
The Sweet Finish: End your loop at Longford’s Ice Cream (21 Glen Ridge Rd) for a scoop of small-batch Mint Chip.
Between the Lines: By the time the ribbon is cut at DeCicco’s this summer, the "orange cone era" should be replaced by smooth pavement and a village vibe that finally rivals the walkability of downtown Greenwich or Old Greenwich. It's been a long time coming.
