It's not your average backyard visitor.
A 5-foot Asian water monitor lizard named "Goose" is channeling its inner explorer in Connecticut.
It was reported missing on July 18 after it escaped its owner in Webster, MA where the reptile was being kept without a permit. It has been spotted near a pond in the Northeast CT town of Thompson.
What to look for? It's black with white scarring. It feasts on dead rodents, not your landscaping. It loves sunshine, swimming holes, and climbing trees. It's not aggressive but best admired from a safe distance — those teeth mean business. Despite its chill demeanor, this is not your average pet.
Between the Lines: Unlike the Spotted Lanternfly, you are discouraged from wrangling with this big guy. Contact animal control.
