Find out where Greenwich plans to locate its new skating rink

The 54-year-old Greenwich Dorothy Hamill Ice Rink has outlived its useful life. The building is undersized and increasingly costly to repair and maintain.

This project has been under study for almost a decade and was derailed early this year by an organized group of Byram residents who had concerns about the Morlot Park location. A newly organized 9-member Hamill Rink Task Force formed in March has been meeting to evaluate whether to replace the rink within Morlot Park or relocate the rink to another location in Greenwich (such as the Island Beach parking lot).

There will be a public forum to discuss potential sites on Wednesday June 4 starting at 6:30 pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room or virtually on Zoom. Comments can be submitted here.

Between the Lines: Hopefully, there will be smooth skating ahead on the project this time around.
