The Greenwich Police Department just released the police blotter for February 2026. Officers responded to 2,676 calls for service during the month, the lowest number in over a year.

Speed Cameras.  January marked the first month of reporting the automated speed camera tickets. A staggering 7,225 citations were mailed out and another 9,537 pending violations were under review. These represent a significant volume of fines—$50 for a first offense and $75 for subsequent violations—all issued without direct police interaction. We will learn more about the data for February around April/May, due to a delayed reporting cycle.

DUIs & Accidents. There were only 5 DUI arrests and 123 vehicle accidents during February—the lowest in over a year. Motor vehicle stops declined to 443—almost half the level from February 2025. Makes you wonder if the speed cameras are making a difference in driver behavior.

Vehicle Thefts. The 7 vehicle thefts reported occurred in the following areas: Steamboat Road/Arch Street near the Greenwich Station, Rockmere Avenue in Old Greenwich, North Maple in North Central Greenwich, Armstrong Court in Western Greenwich, Valley Road in Cos Cob, Partridge Hollow Road in Northwest Greenwich and Parsonage Road in Northeast Greenwich. Four of the vehicles were recovered.

Car Break-ins. There were only 2 car break-ins for the month. They occurred on Crescent Road in Riverside and Byram Terrace Drive in Pemberwick.

Residential Burglaries. There were six burglaries for the month, mostly commercial. The one residential burglary occurred on Island Lane in Belle Haven.

Between the Lines: February has been a fairly quiet month for the Greenwich PD. Remember to lock your car and home, and slow down in school zones.
