Enrollment at most of Connecticut’s public colleges has fallen sharply in recent years.  According to a report from the CT Office of Legislative Research, enrollment collectively dropped 27% over the five years ending 2023. While UConn rose 2.2%, Western CT State fell 26.7%; Eastern CT State fell 23.6%; Central CT State fell 17.8%; and Southern CT State fell 12.2%.  Nationwide college enrollment dropped -4.6% and community college enrollment fell 14.3%.

Between the lines – CT enrollment is dropping more than enrollments nationally and if this continues the State may have to contract/restructure its community college system.
