CT Senator Murphy drains his coffers of $1 million for anti-Trump groups

CT Senator Chris Murphy (D) has distributed almost $1 million to anti-Trump organizing groups. His latest donation was $100,000 for the Soros-funded progressive organizing group "Indivisible." Indivisible has organized the "No Kings" protests in CT and throughout the country.
Appearing on NBC this week (story here), Murphy has been stoking fear that Trump is trying to destroy our democracy. He says the only way to stop a, "would-be tyrant" from destroying democracy is mass mobilization. This is the only way to save our democracy from ruin, he said.
In the first quarter of 2025, Murphy raised about $8 million from individual contributors. In the second quarter of 2025, Murphy raised another $2 million. He described this as "an insane amount of money" for such a short period of time," Murphy said most of the contributions he receives are from people in CT and elsewhere and are small - perhaps $5 to $10 dollars each.
On NBC, Murphy admitted: "The Democratic Party (DNC) is not popular today, and so that means that the DNC is going to have trouble raising money for the foreseeable future. So, we can complain about that, or we can do something about it."
Between the Lines: When you gave your $5-$10 donation to Chris Murphy did you expect that it would be spent on his campaign or be redirected into anti-Trump agitating groups? Did you expect the money to stay in CT or go to organizing groups in Michigan, Louisiana, Utah, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and South Dakota? Probably not. Do you believe that $10 million was really raised in small $15-$10 donations? Do you believe he is not planning a run for the Presidency?
