April 30, 2025, marked the first 100 days of the Trump Administration. During that time, Trump signed 144 executive orders, the most of any president. The highlights include securing the southern border by ending catch and release, revitalizing domestic energy production that has brought gas prices down, and cutting the size and waste of the federal bureaucracy starting with return to office requirements.
Critics have used this 100-day marker to hit the Trump administration for the chaos, overuse of executive powers, inhumane deportations and expected tariff-fueled price increases. Fair enough.
But it is hard to understand CT Senator Chris Murphy's line of attack. In this recent CNN interview, he claimed, without any supporting evidence, that "Trump is trying to destroy our democracy and turn the country into a kind of kleptocratic oligarchy where he and his Mar-a-Lago buddies steal from the rest of us". Does this type of talk make any sense?
Between the Lines - Perhaps CT Senator Murphy would be better off highlighting what he has done in his first hundred days of office.
